Judge Slams Jay-Z’s Lawyer Over ‘Inflammatory Language’ & ‘Inappropriate’ Courtroom Tactics

CONTENT WARNING: This article discusses rape.

Jay-Z has appeared in court where his legal team has tried to dismiss the bombshell case in which a 13-year-old girl has accused him of rape in 2000.

Jay-Z, whose given name is Shawn Carter, has denied the allegations, but the judge in the case has slammed the rapper and his legal team over their “inapporpriate” courtroom tactics.

“Carter’s lawyer’s relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks is inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client,” Judge Analisa Torres wrote in the court order.

Torres said the court “will not fast-track the judicial process merely because counsel demands it”.

The judge also ruled that the identity of the unnamed accuser shall remain anonymous, despite Jay-Z’s attempt to have it publicised.

The judge said allegations of sexual assault are highly sensitive and of an extremely personal nature and that the woman who filed the lawsuit is “particularly vulnerable to the possible harms of disclosure,” as the lawsuit states that she suffers depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and a seizure disorder associated with the stress of the alleged attack.

The lawsuit states that the incident allegedly occurred after the then-teenage accuser tried to get into the MTV Music Video Awards show at Radio City Music Hall 24 years ago.

According to the docs, she was invited to an after party by a man claiming to be Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs’ limo driver.

The suit alleges that upon arriving at the party, the teen was coerced into signing an NDA and was given a drink laced with drugs. She claims she was later assaulted by Carter and Combs as an unnamed “female celebrity” watched.

Jay-Z has denied these claims, accusing both the woman and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, of concocting a “false statement”.
