Jude Bellingham 'increasing unlikely' claim clarified as Luis Diaz injury update emerges

Here are your Liverpool evening headlines for Monday, March 20.

Liverpool 'increasingly unlikely' to sign Jude Bellingham this summer

Liverpool's highly-anticipated summer pursuit of Borussia Dortmund and England starlet Jude Bellingham has been cast into doubt due to the finances it would take to topple Manchester City and Real Madrid, according to a new report.

Jurgen Klopp's interest in the 19-year-old midfielder has become the worst-kept secret in European football over the past 12 months, with Bellingham viewed as a transformative figure in rebuilding the Reds' ageing midfield department.

However, The Athletic's David Ornstein is reporting that Liverpool's battle to win the race for Bellingham's signature has taken a serious blow in recent weeks due to a number of factors, including the expected finances of the deal. The Bundesliga outfit are under no obligation to sell the former Birmingham City prodigy, who has no release clause inserted in his contract which runs until the summer of 2025.

In the months since, it has been reported the Reds would target significant incomings in midfield during the off-season, with Chelsea's Mason Mount and Bellingham two players both continually linked with switches to Anfield.

Luis Diaz injury update as Liverpool plan for international break confirmed

Liverpool are hopeful Luis Diaz will return to full team training next week as they begin their preparations for the Premier League run-in.

Diaz hasn't featured for the Reds since limping off at Arsenal in October with a knee injury that later required surgery having been aggravated at the warm weather training camp in Dubai two months later.

The winger has been stepping up his rehabilitation at the AXA Training Centre in recent weeks and was last Tuesday spotted running on the grass as the remainder of the squad were put through their paces ahead of the Champions League clash at Real Madrid the following day.

Now Diaz is being primed for a return to full team training when the majority of the squad are back at Kirkby at the start of next week ahead of the final two months of the Premier League season.
