Jude Bellingham, the talented England international, has been handed a two-game ban by the Spanish Football Federation's Disciplinary Committee for his actions during Real Madrid's recent match against Valencia. The ban comes as a result of Bellingham's red card and subsequent behavior towards the referee, Jesús Gil Manzano.
Following a controversial 2-2 draw between Real Madrid and Valencia, Bellingham was shown a red card for disputing a call made by the referee. The incident occurred after Bellingham scored what would have been a game-winning goal, only for it to be disallowed by the referee.
The referee's postmatch report cited Bellingham for displaying an 'aggressive attitude' and using inappropriate language towards the match official. Bellingham was alleged to have repeatedly shouted expletives at the referee, leading to his subsequent ban.
Real Madrid, in their defense, argued that Bellingham's actions were not aggressive and that he had only spoken to the referee once. However, the Disciplinary Committee ultimately sided with the referee's account of the events, resulting in the two-game ban for Bellingham.
As a consequence of the ban, Bellingham will miss Real Madrid's upcoming LaLiga fixtures against Celta Vigo and Osasuna. He is set to return to action for the match against Athletic Club on March 31.
Despite the domestic ban, Bellingham is expected to feature in Real Madrid's Champions League clash against RB Leipzig. However, he will need to be cautious as he is currently one yellow card away from a potential suspension in the Champions League.
The Disciplinary Committee also imposed fines on both Bellingham and Real Madrid, with the player facing a €600 penalty and the club a €700 fine for the incident.
