Juan Mata sends classy goodbye message to Manchester United fans

Juan Mata has sent a classy farewell message to Manchester United supporters ahead of his exit from the club.

The 34-year-old will leave United for free when his contract expires at the end of the month after eight years playing for the side.

Mata is the sixth player who will leave United as a free agent this summer following confirmation that Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic and Lee Grant will also leave at the end of June.

The Spaniard leaves the club as a cult hero, having made 285 appearances, scoring 51 goals and winning four trophies during his Old Trafford stay. Mata, who was signed under David Moyes, would go on to feature under every manager who followed at United and made his final appearance for the club in the defeat to Crystal Palace last month.

Taking to social media shortly after the announcement, Mata thanked fans for their support throughout his time at the club.

"From here, from the middle of the pitch at Old Trafford, at night. I'm alone. Actually, this feels like a dream," he said in a video message.

"I wanted to say thank you very much to all of you for your support over the years and especially during the difficult times that we lived together.

"I will never forget you. Thank you very much. All the best from the bottom of my heart and goodbye."
