Juan Mata makes prediction about Erik ten Hag's Manchester United before expected farewell

Juan Mata believes there is 'an exciting future' ahead for Manchester United with Erik ten Hag as manager.

Ralf Rangnick has three games remaining in charge of United as interim boss. Ten Hag has been officially confirmed as Rangnick's permanent successor and he's set to join United at the end of the season after winning the Eredivisie with Ajax.

United have endured a miserable season and it's hoped Ten Hag will oversee a significant rebuild at the club. There are multiple departures expected from United this summer and the Dutchman will be tasked with stopping the rot at Old Trafford.

Mata spoke to United's in-house media after Thursday's Chelsea draw and he predicted better times ahead under Ten Hag.

Mata's eight years at United appear to be ending as his contract expires and Monday's game against Brentford is set to be his Old Trafford farewell.

“Every single game that you play for this club you can play better or worse, you can have better or worse results but as a fan the thing I would like to see is players giving everything and fighting together and representing the club the best we can,” Mata said.

“That’s what we have to do unfortunately in the next [three] games because there are no more. It is a question of pride and giving to the club what it deserves from us. I understand the fans’ frustration after this season because I would also be frustrated too.

“But I also think there is an exciting future ahead, with a new era, with a new manager. Hopefully it is going to be a big change in terms of results and fans will be happy."
