JP McManus' record purchase Jonbon has Cheltenham Festival odds cut ahead of chase debut

Jonbon is attracting support from ante-post punters ahead of his eagerly anticipated chasing debut at Warwick on Wednesday.

The JP McManus-owned six-year-old finished second behind stablemate Constitution Hill in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival back in March before landing the Top Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree a few weeks later.

And he faces Paul Nicholls' Monmiral, a gallant second to Epatante in the Aintree Hurdle, and Dan Skelton's West Cork, winner of the Greatwood Hurdle last season, in the Highflyer Bloodstock Novices' Chase at Warwick.

Jonbon is being tipped to be even better over fences after being purchased for £570,000 to be a chaser and is the favourite for next year's Arkle Chase at Prestbury Park.

He is 4/9 to win at Warwick and has been recently cut to 3/1 from 4/1 at the head of the Arkle market with Ladbrokes.

The firm report he is in the ‘Top Three’ worst results for the Cheltenham Festival right now alongside American Mike and Chapeau De Soliel.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Punters are getting a piece of Jonbon ahead of his chasing debut at Warwick. He is 3/1 for the Arkle now, but an eye-catching performance tomorrow is likely to see those odds clipped.”
