Journalist Ravish Tiwari passed away in Delhi last night. He had been struggling with cancer.
Tiwari was the chief of Indian Express's national bureau. In a post on their website, the newspaper said Tiwari was 40 years old. Express Group's chairman Viveck Goenka described him as a "rare, unique voice in our profession" whose work "will be an enduring inspiration for the newsroom and beyond".
Indian Express chief editor Raj Kamal Jha was quoted as saying that Tiwari's "shoes cannot be filled but they shall sit in a very special corner of the newsroom for ever".
Multiple journalists posted tributes on Twitter.

In Delhi media if anyone was Ajatashatru it was @ravishkt. None dragged him in communal-secular brandisation game nor slotted in pro-Modi or anti-Modi grouping. Being engineer by education he went into details, kept safe distance fr people in power, understood the Caste issues 1/2 pic.twitter.com/kYYMIVHKfz

In Ravish Tiwari’s passing, journalism has lost one of its sharpest minds. His energy in the newsroom was infectious, his enthusiasm unmatched pic.twitter.com/OFuXqi9RsL

वो चुनाव की चकल्लस करना, भारी दोपहर में वो चाय की चुस्की लेना, वो टांग खिंचाई, वो रात में शहर खंगालना, वो कहानियों पर झगड़ना, तुम्हारी वो हँसी

I learnt so much from him and he had my back on every story I did when I was in his team.
(Apologies for taking to Twitter to pay my respects. Sadly I cannot be there in person to say goodbye!)
Our dearest friend, beat buddy, one of the nicest people I know, @ravishkt is no more. Just spoke to him two days back and he was full of insights on the UP polls. I will greatly miss him. Travel well, my friend. #RIP
