Benfica club president Rui Costa insists there are no regrets over allowing Jota to leave for Celtic after the winger's success in Scotland.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a spectacular debut season at Celtic Park during a loan spell from the Portuguese giants as he played a crucial part in the side’s Premiership title win. The loan deal included an option to buy for €7.5m (£6.5m), and the Hoops triggered the clause to bring him back to the east end of Glasgow on a permanent basis, and he has continued to shine in Glasgow's east end once again this term.
His form this term, which has seen him net four times and make his Champions League debut against Real Madrid, has seen fans and pundits alike claim Celtic snapped the forward up for a bargain fee. However, the Benfica supremo doesn't see it that way as he fielded questions on their summer business on BTV .
The former Portugal international has brought bumper transfer fees to Lisbon in recent months, with Darwin Nunez's move to Liverpool earning the club a whopping €75million. However, Costa put on the spot when asked if there were any regrets over selling Jota after his 15-year association was brought to an end.
He responded: “No. Jota was formed by us and went to Scotland on a loan with an option to buy. He had a brilliant season and Celtic activated the option.
"We kept part of the multi-player pass. We will continue to follow the future to reap more dividends.”
