JOTA has welcomed the competition that he faces for a place in the Celtic starting line-up from Nicolas Kuhn.
German winger Kuhn has firmly established himself in Brendan Rodgers’ team since joining the Scottish champions last January and will be difficult for the new €10m signing to displace.
However, the Portuguese winger, who is confident he will be fit enough to play against Motherwell in a William Hill Premiership match at Fir Park on Sunday, believes the presence of the one-time RB Leipzig kid will bring out the best in him.

“It's different times, a different team,” he said. “There are only nine players from the last time I was here. The squad has changed and now I need to get to know the lads. It's important we can have a good connection and just give the maximum out of it.
“That (having to fight for his place) is healthy. We all aim to have very good team mates and to develop with them. It's always good when the people that play in your position are also doing really good, because that will push you to do better and harder. I really like that.”

Jota added: “I haven't played in a long time consecutively. There's no amount of training that will give you what the game gives to you.
“So I definitely need time so I can grow physically and just go and find the balance that I once found before. But I can be ready, I can be physically fit.”
