However, Sky Sports reporter Anthony Joseph has revealed the flight was delayed as a result of the strong winds caused by Storm Eowyn.

It's now thought the finer details of the deal will be thrashed out over the weekend with Jota to travel after the red weather warnings pass in the UK.

Joseph posted on X: "Rennes winger Jota was due to fly to Glasgow last night ahead of his proposed move to Celtic but has been delayed by #StormEowyn.

"Jota is now expected to travel to Glasgow over the weekend to finalise personal terms and paperwork."
