Jota Cadillac to become first WEC Hypercar to take to Goodwood circuit

World Endurance Championship Hypercar machinery will take to the Goodwood circuit for the first time next month when one of Jota's Cadillacs will complete demonstration laps at the Members' Meeting.

Jota's WEC drivers Alex Lynn and Will Stevens are due to complete 'a number of high-speed demonstration laps' in one of the squad's V-Series.R LMDhs across the 12-13 April event.

It is believed this will also be the first time that a current top-flight sportscar has lapped the track since the venue's 1960s heyday.

The LMDh's appearance is part of celebrations of the 25th birthday of Jota Sport, which has become a factory Cadillac squad for this season.

A range of other cars from Jota's history are due to be on display including Le Mans class winners - it triumphed on three occasions in the LMP2 division at Circuit de la Sarthe - and one of the Porsche 963 LMDhs the outfit fielded in the WEC last year.

“I have such affection for Goodwood and a strong personal history there so it’s always a special joy for me when Jota does anything at Goodwood,” said Jota co-founder David Clark, who has regularly raced at the West Sussex track.

“This year is such a special one for the entire team at Jota Group, not just the race team but also our amazing people at Jota Composites and Jota Engineering.

“Having our Cadillac Hertz Team Jota V-Series.R LMDh make its premiere on UK soil at such an iconic location, in front of what will be a brilliant crowd, is an enormous honour and I have no doubt that it will be one of the highlights of our 25th anniversary celebration.”

The Duke of Richmond added: “We have a lot of fun at the Members’ Meeting, showcasing the breadth of motorsport.

“I’m delighted that our guests will see the Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA V-Series.R LMDh in action – the first time a current car from the highest level of sportscar racing will have lapped the Motor Circuit since it closed in the sixties.”

Jota's appearance at the Members' Meeting follows the recent announcement that Bruno Senna will drive his uncle Ayrton's 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix-winning Lotus to commemorate 40 years since the triple champion's maiden Formula 1 victory.

Further sportscar action at the event will come in the form of a special GT3 shootout for cars homologated between 2006 and 2012.
