Jota announces Button's co-drivers for 2025 WEC and factory Cadillac debut

Jenson Button will race alongside Earl Bamber and Sebastien Bourdais in this year’s World Endurance Championship at the Jota Cadillac squad.

The 2009 Formula 1 world champion was named in the #38 Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh along with Bamber and Bourdais on Tuesday when Jota revealed how the six drivers it announced in November will line up across its two cars

Cadillac Hertz Team Jota’s sister #12 entry will be driven by Alex Lynn, Will Stevens and Norman Nato across the full WEC campaign, beginning with the 10-hour Qatar 1812Km on 28 February.

The announcement of the line-ups at Jota for its first season as Cadillac’s factory representative in the WEC means the partnership between Lynn and Bamber has ended after three seasons together at Chip Ganassi Racing.

They were teamed in the WEC aboard the US squad’s solo factory V-Series.R in 2023 and 2024, and before that contested the 2022 IMSA SportsCar Championship together aboard a Cadillac DPi-V.R Daytona Prototype international.

Bourdais, who is moving over from Caddy’s IMSA squad to race in the WEC full-time, joined Bamber and Lynn at Ganassi for the opening and closing rounds of the 2024 WEC in Qatar and Bahrain respectively.

Stevens and Nato continue a partnership that began in one of Jota’s customer Porsche 963 LMDhs in 2024 when they were joined with Callum Ilott.

Button drove with Phil Hanson and Oliver Rasmussen in his first year at Jota last season.

Dieter Gass, team principal of the Jota WEC squad, said: “Our job was to establish which combinations made the most sense to maximise the overall strengths of the group.

“While character and personality play a big role in team dynamics, driving style and preferences were also key factors in determining who would be paired in each car.

“We took our time over this process, and we’re really looking forward to seeing what both trios can achieve in Qatar and beyond."

Jota director David Clark explained that “getting that chemistry right, not only between the drivers, but the entire team is something we pride ourselves on”.

He added that during pre-season testing the team had “seen an incredible team spirit already build between our drivers and their crews”.

Bamber is also contesting the IMSA series with the Action Express Racing Cadillac squad, but the WEC will be his priority.

That means he will race in the Spa 6 Hours in May rather than the clashing Laguna Seca IMSA event.

Track action begins in Qatar a week before the race with the two-day official prologue test on 21-22 February.
