Jota and Carter Vickers branded Celtic 'donkeys' as Rangers fan caller lets rip in transfer rant

One Rangers fan reckons his team can claim transfer superiority over their rivals this summer - because Celtic have signed two "donkeys" from last season.

You'd be stretching it to brand Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers anything other than Parkhead smash-hits. The duo arrived on loan a year ago and were key cogs in the Ange Postecoglou machine that went on to win the Premiership, so much so that the Hoops spent almost £14million to bring them both back.

Permanent deals for the loan duo have formed part of a busy window which has also seen Benjamin Siegrist, Alexandro Bernabei, Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz arrive to add depth to Postecoglou's squad. But in a bizarre rant, one fan has been left unimpressed by their rivals' business, as he called up Clyde 1 Superscoreboard to put them under the microscope.

John, claiming to be a Rangers fan, said: "Who have Celtic signed that's any different from last year? Because they've spent £14million on two players who, by the way, I don't think are as clever as they think. Who have they actually signed?

"They've spent £14m on two players from last year and they've not really signed anybody that's any different. We have, we've strengthened in every department. So I really don't think it's going to be as close as you think it's going to be.

He then briefly turned attentions to Andy Halliday - asking the former Ibrox midfielder why he wasn't throwing Hearts' name into the ring as title contenders. He went on: "I think (Rangers) will win it. I don't make statements like that very often. Andy, you should be sticking up for your team, there's a chance you can win the league. You should be sticking by your guns for your own team."

But then it was back to business as usual as Jota and Carter-Vickers were both branded "donkeys" to the hilarity of the panel. He said: "Jota and Carter-Vickers, I'll tell you one thing right now, I don't rate either of them. You all seem to. I think they're donkeys.

"Last season we were in upheaval with Gerrard leaving. I'm exciting about Tom Lawrence and Matondo, I'm really excited about those two."
