Joss Stone has declared she is “done” with touring as she wants to make sure that her children grow up “grounded”.
The Devon-born singer – who lives in Nashville – shares 18-month-old daughter Violet with her partner Cody and she is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child.
During an interview on the Sweat, Snot and Tears podcast, she admitted she was uncomfortable with the thought of her children needing to feel "valid" like she had seen with "children of stars" when she was growing up.
She said: “I don’t want to leave her [Violet]. Touring with babies when they’re small is completely doable. Cody works from his computer on the bus.
“He walks me to the stage with Violet. He goes back, gives her a bath and by the time I’m finished on stage, it’s time to put her to bed. So it’s perfect.
“But when she’s going to school that is not going to be a thing. I’ve wanted to be a mum for so long. This is the thing I want to do.”
The Right To Be Wrong hitmaker does not intend to leave the music industry, however, as she expressed her desire to be a songwriter and work from home.
She added: “My dream is to write for other singers. I can do that from home. So I could drop Violet at school, come home, write some songs and go pick her up. That’s what I would love.
“If I can set my life up like that, that would be perfect.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Stone spoke to podcast hosts Annie O’Leary and Wendy Golledge about the devastating miscarriage she experienced last October.
The 35-year-old also explained why she made the brave decision to announce it publicly.
"It was the most awful thing I think that has happened ever in my life,” she said.
"I didn’t share it for a very long time but when I got pregnant again... I don’t know, I felt like I did have a baby in me before and no one knew him. It was like say ‘Okay yeah, we are having a baby again and it’s so good’ but it’s like what happened to the little baby before?”
