Joss Stone gives birth to second baby after nearly dying in labour when uterus split

Joss Stone has announced she has given birth to her second child after a traumatic labour which nearly cost her life.

The Super Duper Love singer announced the happy news she had welcomed another child with American boyfriend Cody DaLuz on October 18.

Although mum and baby - who they have named Shackleton Stoker DaLuz – are now doing well, Joss said the birth didn't go to plan as her uterus split because he was too big.

Taking to Instagram to share what happened, the 35-year-old told her 485,000 followers: “We had another baby. This is him. This is little Shackleton. Here he is.”

Giving more details about the birth, Joss continued: “He was born on the 18th October, and it was lovely wasn’t it.”

Revealing there were some problems during the birth, dad Cody said: “It was a s*** show” - and at one point feared he was going to be a single dad.

Joss went on to explain: “I decided I wanted to have a natural birth. That didn’t happen did it? No little Shack.

“He was 9lbs and 2ozs. A slight bit bigger than what the doctors said. We went in, had labour for 32 hours. That’s a long time. Then it all went a bit t*** up.”

She continued: “He was born at 7.54am on the 18th . It was because my uterus split. Basically he was a bit big weren’t you mate? I’m in the 1% apparently.

“Doctors saved my life and saved his life, and they are amazing and we love you guys. So it all ended well and now we have our little man."

Dad Cody added: “I’m very grateful because I thought I was going to have to be a single dad. For about 20 minutes I thought I was going to be on my own with a couple of kids. It was pretty scary.”

Now baby Shack is safely back home, the couple said it was a “joy to have him in our arms”.

Joss shared she suffered a miscarriage before having Shackleton (Instagram)

Joss and Cody – a former Marine who works in logistics for Amazon – met in 2020, just before lockdown, in an airport in Belize.

At the time the Devon-born singer was in the middle of a drawn-out break-up with her ex-boyfriend.

But by chance, the pair ended up staying in the same hotel. They chatted in the bar and when Cody later messaged her on social media, she knew she needed to give it a go.

Sharing the moment she knew Cody was ‘The One’, Joss told The Mirror: “I started most conversations in previous relationships for the last seven or eight years with, ‘Nice to meet you… I want seven kids,’ and then I’d wait to see whether they laughed or ran!

“Cody, though, he was like, ‘All I want is an adoptive Beagle and an adoptive baby.’

“I was like, ‘My God, I love you.’ I knew he was the one. And I told him I wanted seven children and he didn’t run a mile.”

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter called Violet who is almost two, in January 2021.

The happy news of their second child comes a year after the couple suffered a devastating miscarriage.
