A transfer bidding war appears to have been sparked for Chelsea transfer target Josko Gvardiol, according to recent reports. The Blues have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old RB Leipzig defender, who continues to impress with his mature performances at just 20 years old.
The Croatia international has risen to the challenge of the World Cup over the winter period too, becoming a regular in the first team. The centre-back has played a key part in making sure the nation have made their way towards a quarter-final in the competition, with his key interception in the final group game against Belgium helping them get that far.
With plenty more interest since then, his agent - Marjan Sisic - telling Sky Sports Germany: "Regarding a possible transfer in the summer of 2023 we are not in a hurry. I can also make it clear that there are no pre-agreements with any clubs.

"For sure, a lot of top clubs are informed about him but Josko has a long-term contract in Leipzig. Josko feels totally happy in Leipzig. His development is amazing and RB are playing very well under Marco Rose.”
While the Blues will be hopeful of landing a move for the left-footed youngster, it appears as though they will have some competition for his signature. That's because the Evening Standard reports that Real Madrid are set to spark a bidding war for Gvardiol starting at £78million.
It may mean that co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly will have to work even harder to secure a move for another top prospect.
