Josko Gvardiol has dropped a huge transfer hint regarding a potential move to Chelsea in the near future following another dominating display for Croatia at the World Cup. The 20-year-old was the recipient of an attempted transfer swoop by Todd Boehly in the summer for a possible transfer that would see him arrive at Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2022/23 season, but the deal never materialised.
Croatia secured qualification to the World Cup last-16 as Group F runners-up following their goalless draw with Belgium which saw the Red Devils dumped out of the tournament. Gvardiol was immense in the Croatian back line thwarting a number of Belgian attacks which included a last-ditch challenge on Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku with minutes to spare.
Following his performances this season with RB Leipzig and now Croatia, it's clear to see why Gvardiol was the recipient of significant interest in the summer. Todd Boehly could produce an incredible transfer swoop of Gvardiol and his team-mate Christopher Nkunku ahead of the 2022/23 season, with the latter already signing a pre-contract, as understood by football.london.

Understandably his immediate future was a huge talking point following his herculean defensive display on Thursday where Jermaine Jenas and Micah Richards were both quick to praise Gvardiol.
After the game he was asked about a potential move to Chelsea, to which the RB Leipzig player told The Athletic: “About me and Chelsea? I don’t know. You know what happened in the last few months. To be honest, I have no idea.
“My agent is taking care of this and we will see. Right now, I’m happy in Leipzig. I don’t know, we will see – you never know. You know the stories and these things, but all I can say is that I’m happy in Leipzig and right now I’m going to stay there and perform for them.”
His national team-mate Mateo Kovacic, who plays for Chelsea, could play a significant role in convincing Gvardiol to come to the Premier League and he also revealed he regularly speaks to the midfielder.
He added: "It’s a big club of course and, who knows, maybe one day I will be there. It’s really nice to see things like this, especially because there is Kovacic, so you never know. I talk with him.
“Even to be here on this, the biggest event, it’s a big thing for me at 20 years old so I’m happy. I have to think about it.”
