Josip Juranovic secures Champions League football with Union Berlin and sets up potential Parkhead return

Josip Juranovic could reutrn to Celtic Park next season - after Union Berlin qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

On a crazy final day which saw Borussia Dortmund completely bottle the title at home to Mainz, allowing Bayern Munich to steal in, it perhaps went overlooked that Union, who had embarked on just their fourth season in their top-flight history, beat Werder Bremen 1-0 to qualify for Europe’s premier competition.

Having joined the German club in January in an £11million move from Celtic, Juranovic has had a huge impact at the Stadion Alten-Forsterei, registering two goals and on assist on the right-flank of a 3-5-2 as Urs Fischer’s men believed belong their wildest dreams. And that could result in a fairytale return to Parkhead, with Celtic having qualified for the Champions League as a result of winning the Scottish Premiership title after winning 32 of their 38 league games this campaign.

Munich, Dortmund and RB Leipzig are the other teams in the tournament from Germany, which will likely mean that Union will enter pot four.

With Celtic likely to be in pot three or four, there is a possibility that should the Hoops qualify for the third pot, Juranovic could play under the lights at Parkhead once again.
