Legia Warsaw are set for a significant windfall if Josip Juranovic leaves Celtic for big money next month.
The full back has shone for Croatia during the World Cup in Qatar. They reached the semi-finals yet again, but bowed out after being well beaten by a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina, who will play France in Sunday’s final. The Celtic star will sit out the third place playoff against Morocco due to injury, however.
Juranovic is now on the January transfer wishlist of a number of clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Torino, who will have to offer at least £17million if they want to wrestle him away from Parkhead, as exclusively reported by Record Sport this week. And former club Legia Warsaw are set to land a chunk of any fee for themselves. The Polish outfit flogged Juranovic to the Scottish champions for £2.5million 18 months ago, reports the Scottish Sun.
Ange Postecoglou has ensured he’s well covered if Juranovic does depart. Alistair Johnston has been signed from CF Montreal, himself a stand out in Qatar after impressing fro Canada.
Along with Anthony Ralston, he’ll compete for the right back slot if the Celts receive an offer they can’t turn down for Juranovic. They’ve also been credited with an interest in Real Valladolid starlet Ivan Fresneda, who plays the same position but would be seen more as one for the future.
