Josip Juranovic has lifted the lid on his Celtic exit by admitting that he chose the "right club" in Union Berlin.
Juranovic was a standout during Croatia's run to the finish third at the 2022 World Cup before returning to Celtic to find himself competing with a new recruit in Canadian International Alistair Johnston for the right-back role. The 27-year-old wasn't short of potential exit routes from Parkhead with the likes of Barcelona and Manchester United reportedly linked. But he has confessed he made the correct decision by leaving Celtic for a new chapter at the Bundesliga high-flyers.
Speaking during a press conference while on international duty, Juranovic said: "I chose the right club, from the first game things went well for me. I hope it stays that way in the future. We're playing well, we're third in the league. I don't have anything to complain about. I improved defensively, because we need to defend ourselves more, but those are small nuances. I've chosen a right league for myself. I wanted to improve, now I have opportunity to do so and I want to improve more."
And the Croat defender couldn't help but mention an old foe when asked about the difference in standard from the Scottish Premiership to German football as he acknowledged that during his time with the Hoops, Rangers were the side who caused them to have the least amount of possession.
"In Legia we had more possession and won the league, when I went to Celtic it was a similar situation with possession being around 90 per cent unless we played against Rangers," Juranovic continued. Now in Union we have a bit less of a possession, but we're compact as a team and we're working together [to win], we don't have one player who can finish the game [on his own]. We need to work as a team and that's why we're where we are, being third in the league."
