Josip Juranovic could not have had a better night in the Europa League for new club Union Berlin.
The Bundesliga outfit are flying high in Germany after a night to remember in European competition but it all started badly for former Rangers star Calvin Bassey who conceded a penalty for Ajax via handball which VAR confirmed and was converted by defender Robin Knoche.
Juranovic, who scored a few goals for Ange Postecoglou's side in the Europa League during his time in Glasgow, found space on the edge of the area on the 40 minute mark and sent a left-footed effort past Geronimo Rulli to officially open his account for Union. The Crotian then went on to provide a top assist for one-time Rangers target Danihlo Doeki to seal a historic win in the German capital.
It was a 90 minutes to remember for Juranovic who scored an impressive rating with some German outlets, and almost set up a fourth goal with a defence-splitting pass that Bassey couldn't halt.
Die Eisernen could now face the likes of Manchester United in the next round, with Roma also through, and a potential re-visit to Shakhtar Donetsk for Juranovic after the Hoops played the Ukrainian side in the Champions League this season.
