Josie Gibson admits she's given dog chocolate a try - prompting a warning from guest

This Morning presenter Josie Gibson made a revealing admission on the show this morning (Tuesday, April 12). During a segment about Easter chocolate for dogs, Josie piped up with: "To be fair I have tried dog-chocolate before and it's not too bad."

Guest Sarah Josell, who was demonstrating the treats on-air, followed up the revelation with: "Of course you have Josie." But was then quick to interject with: "It does clearly say on the packet, 'not for human consumption' so, don't try those ones at home everyone."

Josie and co-presenter Vernon Kay laughed it off awkwardly with Vernon asking Josie: "Have you seriously?" to which she laughed and nodded.

What's in dog chocolate?

Real chocolate is known to be particularly toxic to dogs as two components found in our favourite Easter treats are theobromine and caffeine, both harmful to the animals. However dog-chocolate created especially for our pets to enjoy at Easter is made from carob, a brown powder extracted from the pods of a carob tree, which is native to the Mediterranean.

The fact that it doesn't contain theobromine means it's non-toxic to dogs, but its sweet flavour means they dogs can't tell the difference.

We wonder if Josie Gibson enjoyed the carob treats? Don't try this at home folks.
