Joshua Frankham has suggested he "owes everything" to Tyson Fury who encouraged him to sign with promoter Frank Warren.
Frankham is considered one of the brightest prospects on Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions roster having made an undefeated start to life as a professional. His most recent outing came in a comfortable points win against Joe Hardy on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev's victory over Anthony Yarde, as he continues to build up valuable experience.
The rising star is looking to build towards a British title shot, which has been an ambition of his since first turning professional during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. And despite having a good amateur pedigree, Frankham was uncertain if he wanted to make the leap into the professional ranks at first.
However it was his cousin and WBC champion Fury who advised him to take a risk, which he has insisted makes himself and his family proud to this day."I am very, very proud to have Tyson as a friend," he said during an interview with Mirror Fighting. "To just be able to ring him up and ask for advice.
He was the one who helped me sign with Frank Warren. He was the one who put me with him, I wasn't even going to turn professional. He was the one who helped convince me move away from the amateurs and suggested 'why bother?' and advised me to just go professional. If it wasn't for Tyson I probably wouldn't be a professional boxer.
"I owe him everything, to have a talent like me is amazing and I think he is one of the greatest of all-time. To turn professional and fight on these shows is some buzz. To go on now and crack on to win titles to make my family name even bigger would be a huge achievement for me. I have always said I want the British title but I also want to try and reach world level and go for those titles."

There could be a number of big future fights on the table for Frankham in the future including a shot at the British title which is currently held by Josh Kelly. It is now seven fights unbeaten for the Reading-based star who has yet to lock in his next outing.
Frankham is expected to get back out in June despite the prospect of featuring at Wembley Stadium on the potential card on July 22 which is targeted to be headlined by Fury's clash with Andy Ruiz Jr. It has been just the one fight this year having laced up his gloves only twice last year but the 24-year-old now wants to get the ball rolling again.
"Ideally I would like to get another three fights in this year," Frankham continued. "Ideally I would love to be 9-0 or 10-0 by the end of the year, all eyes now to June hopefully and I can keep cracking on from there. I want to keep myself as active as I want, it was a bit of a let down last year only boxing twice.
"Frank kept me really busy for those first two years so hopefully I can get back out there and get the ball rolling again and keep it going forward. Like I say hopefully I can have another three or four fights and then even look at fighting for titles next year."
