Josh Warrington stunned as Luis Alberto Lopez wins world title in shock upset

Josh Warrington has lost his IBF featherweight world championship belts after falling to Luis Alberto Lopez in a stunningly close fight at the First Direct Arena in Leeds

It was Warrington's first fight since he bounced back from the first defeat of his professional career against Mauricio Lara last year with a win against Kiko Martinez at the same venue in March.

Warrington was quickly aware of Lopez' speed, which was evident early as he used it to get out of range before using his length to land on the Leeds Warrior.

But Lopez did not seemingly deal too much damage, with Warrington the one looking the more dangerous as he landed some beautiful hooks.

Lopez continued to push in the early rounds, and will have taken much of them due to his insane work rate.

The latter rounds though, saw Warrington push the pace, with him winning the last three rounds comfortably.

However it was not enough, with Lopez being awarded the win by decision, with one judge having the score as even with the other two giving the fight to the Mexican by two rounds.

We'll have more reaction from Warrington to come.
