Josh Rock vows to 'bust his bum' to achieve his dream after beating world No.10

Josh Rock claims he will ‘bust his bum’ to become a world champion after taking out world No.10 Nathan Aspinall.

The Antrim man is now into the last 16 of the PDC World Darts Championship after another super display under pressure on the big stage.

Rock hit 13 180s and had an impressive 42 per cent conversion rate on his doubles to win a thriller 4-3 against Aspinall book a place in the next round at the Alexandra Palace.

There he will face Jonny Clayton of Wales – who beat Fermanagh’s Brendan Dolan with ease – and red-hot Rock is looking to go all the way.

“I was under a lot of pressure and I dealt with it well. I was just trying my best, it was a very tight game,” said the defending World Youth champion.

“I got there, I was under a lot of pressure. “I am going to bust my bum to become world champion.

“I have kind of woke up, but now I am just happy. There is a lot more to come.”

Rock got the raucous crowd in London going early as he checked out a 141 to win a quality first set on the throw, with both players averaging over 100.

Rock was up against it when Aspinall broke him twice in the third set to win against the throw and take a 2-1 lead, but the 21-year-old bit back.

In the deciding set, it was Rock who held his nerve in amazing fashion, breaking in the second leg with a double double-tops finish and then securing victory soon after.
