Josh McPake Rangers transfer update as Queen's Park loanee 'watched' by Northampton

Josh McPake is 'wanted' by Northampton as the English outfit eye up the Rangers man.

The on-form attacker is currently on loan at Queen's Park and is impressing for Owen Coyle's side in the Scottish Championship. It's been a solid start to the season for the newly promoted side who are sitting third in the league standings - just two points off top spot after 17 games.

McPake is currently on loan at the Spiders on a season-long agreement but Michael Beale's Light Blues have the option of a recall in January. He's fired a number of goals and assists to date with strikes in his last two consecutive games. Northampton have had him watched and there is also believed to be potential Scottish Premier League interest reports the Scottish Daily Express.

The Cobblers are pushing for promotion from England’s League Two and have kept close tabs on McPake in recent games. They are in the hunt for promotion at this stage with league leaders Leyton Orient nine points ahead with second placed Stevenage just five - having played one game more. The attacker is no stranger to football down south having turned out for Harrogate, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers.

He's also had stints in Scotland with Greenock Morton and Dundee.

The Rangers loanee will come up against one of his former clubs as Coyle takes his high flyers to Cappielow this weekend with just one point separating the duo in the league standings. It's then Arbroath in the final game of the year before a January 2 showdown with Partick Thistle.
