Josh Ginnelly Hearts exit confirmed as he decides future lies elsewhere

Josh Ginnelly has decide his future is AWAY from Hearts.

His contract in the capital expired at the end of the season and after taking time to weigh up his next move, he has decided that he WON'T be returning to Gorgie this summer. The speedy attacker has had reported interest from three English Championship sides while several League One outfits and Maccabi Haifa - who can offer the prospect of Champions League football - have also been mentioned as an interested party.

A short club statement read: "We can confirm that Josh Ginnelly will not be returning to the club. His contract expired last month and despite the club making the best possible offers to retain his services, he has decided his future lies elsewhere. We wish him all the best with his next move."

Ginnelly grabbed 13 goals and seven assists in 41 appearances last season for Hearts and picked up experience on the big stage both in Europa League qualifying and then in the Europa Conference League proper.

Hearts are back in pre-season training as they begin preparations for the new Scottish Premiership campaign. The men in Maroon will be desperate to get off to a flying start as they look to go better than the fourth spot they finished last term.

They also have the small matter of Europa Conference League qualifiers to negotiate. They will enter the competition at the third qualifying round and will need to come through two ties in order to reach the group stage for the second successive season.

Rivals Hibs are also in the qualification process but Lee Johnson's men enter at the second qualifying stage.
