Josh Giddey just pulled off one of the most bonkers finishes in NBA history, and it’s left everyone speechless. The Aussie basketball star sank a half-court buzzer-beater over none other than LeBron James, securing a thrilling 119-117 win for the Chicago Bulls against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The game was all but over for the Bulls, trailing 115-110 with just 12.6 seconds left. But they weren’t ready to throw in the towel yet. A quick timeout led to a three-pointer, narrowing the gap to two points with 9.8 seconds to go. Honestly, even as a non sporty girly, this was THRILLING!

Giddey intercepted a pass from James, setting up Coby White for another three-pointer that put the Bulls ahead with 6.1 seconds remaining.
Austin Reaves briefly gave the Lakers the lead again with a layup, but Giddey wasn’t done. With no timeouts left, he inbounded the ball, got it back, sprinted to half-court, and launched a shot over James’ outstretched arms.
The crowd erupted as the ball swished through the net, sending the United Centre into pandemonium. Watch here:
Giddey’s reaction after the game was as cool as his shot. “Let it fly with confidence,” he said to Bulls broadcaster K.C Johnson after the game.
“I missed two before that but let that third one go with confidence and nothing but net. What a way to come back.” Period!
He admitted it was his first game-winner, adding, “I’ve never made a game-winner before. I’ve made a couple of layups to put us up with a couple of seconds left, but a walk-off like that from halfcourt I’ve never done that before. I don’t know if I’ll ever do it again but I’ll take this one tonight.”

This shot is now the longest game-winning shot in Chicago Bulls history, and it caps off an incredible run for Giddey and the Bulls. They’re 9-2 over their past 11 games and currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference. Giddey finished the game with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists, marking his 16th career triple-double.
Josh Giddey was raised in Melbourne by his dad who was a coach and a player in the NBL and his mum who playes in the WNBL. Josh joined the Chicago Bulls in 2024.
