Josh Doig 'on brink' of Hibs transfer exit with Serie A side to pay £3million for Easter Road star

Hibs starlet Josh Doig is on the brink of a big-money move to Serie A, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun claim the Hibees have agreed a £3million fee with Hellas Verona to make the move over to Italy. They say he is set to travel this weekend and have a medical on Monday.

Bologna were also named as another interested party in the 20-year-old as they seek a replacement for Aaron Hickey. They swooped for the former Hearts star and after a stunning time at the club he is set to make the switch to England with Brentford. During his time in Italy he has impressed and established himself as a Scotland international.

Doig broke into the Hibs top team two years ago and has impressed ever since. Scouts from across Europe have constantly watched the Scotland Under-21 star in action and he was recently rewarded with a long-term contract after his fine form.

But Hibs looks set to cash in on the full-back with Hellas Verona, who finished in ninth spot in Italy's top division last term, having slapped in an offer.

It's reported that barring any last minute hitches, he will make the big move in the next few days.

Doig featured 42 times in all competitions last season for the capital club.

It's been a busy summer of transfer activity at Easter Road with Lee Johnson bringing in a host of new faces as he bids to turn the Hibees fortunes around this campaign.

He's added the likes of Aiden McGeady, David Marshall, Jair Tavares and Lewis Miller to his ranks - with Doig now likely to head the other way.

His moves comes just weeks after young Scottish full-back and former Aberdeen kid Calvin Ramsay made a life-changing move to Liverpool.
