Josh Charnley has become the third-highest try-scorer in Super League history after notching a brace in Warrington Wolves’ 32-18 win at Toulouse Olympique on Saturday.
The former Wigan Warriors winger’s double moved him on to 201 Super League tries and encouraged hopes that he can climb to the top of the list.
Charnley’s double against Sylvain Houles’ side took him past St Helens icon Paul Wellens and legendary former Leeds Rhinos centre Keith Senior, who both scored 199 Super League tries during their illustrious career.
Former Leeds Rhinos favourite Danny McGuire sits at the summit having scored an incredible 247 tries for the Headingley giants and Hull Kingston Rovers during his trophy-laden career.
Ex-Leeds team-mate and current Robins star Ryan Hall is second on the chart with 212 touchdowns, but Charnley is catching both men up.
The winger took to Twitter after Saturday’s game to declare his ambition to overhaul McGuire, saying: “201, 3rd all-time top try scorer. Coming for top spot!!”
Along with Salford Red Devils winger Ken Sio, Charnley is the current joint top scorer in Super League this season with both men having scored six tries apiece.
Charnley scored his first Super League try during a loan spell at Hull KR in 2010, notching five times in five appearances, before proving equally prolific at Wigan.
After a spell in rugby union at Sale Sharks, the 30-year-old returned to Super League with Warrington for the 2018 season.
