At times, Josh Allen plays some mind-bogglingly bad football, but the Bills are determined to stick beside him.
Before Allen made it to the league in 2018, there were concerns about his ability to play at the pro level. During his first two years, he proved the haters right. Then, the lights came on for Allen in year three.
The Bills started winning more games and going further into the playoffs, a surefire cure that covers up how lousy losing can be. Buffalo was seemingly all in on Allen by 2021. They gave him a six-year extension worth up to $258 million — with $150 million guaranteed — without flinching.
But now, with a league-leading 93 turnovers since 2018 and a horrendous loss to the Broncos on Monday in which Allen’s play certainly did not help, that extension is looking funny in the light.

But here’s the thing: If you want Josh Allen to be good, you must accept the interceptions with the wizardry.
The Bills know that.
The Bills also know that volume creates more glitter and gold. The team appears perfectly happy for Allen to average over 4400 passing yards since 2020 if that means Buffalo will regularly be in playoff contention.
