The most recent game played by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills exemplified the quarterback’s greatness. He became the first player in league history to have 3 passing and 3 rushing touchdowns in the same game, and racked up the most fantasy football points of any quarterback in any single game, ever. And in doing so, he passed some NFL greats on the all-time rushing touchdowns list.
Josh Allen Now Up To 62 Career Rushing Touchdowns
Allen has become the dominant quarterback that he is by being a dual threat. While he has struggled in the past with accuracy, he has one of the strongest arms in the league and has finished in the top-10 in the league in passing touchdowns in each of the last 5 seasons. He hasn’t thrown for fewer than 4,200 yards in any year since his second in the league.
But it is his dominance in the running game that sets him apart from much of the rest.
O.J. Simpson is a Pro Football Hall of Fame running back. He had 61 rushing TDs. Terrell Davis had 60 and is a HOFer.
Josh Allen has 62 rushing touchdowns and he is a 28-year-old quarterback with 190 passing touchdowns and a couple receiving touchdowns, too.

No quarterback has been as much of a rushing threat over the past half-decade than Allen. He has eclipsed 400 rushing yards in each of his seven years in the league, and twice has gone over 760. His career low for rushing touchdowns was 6 back in 2021, with an average of 9 per year. Allen’s best mark in that category came just last season, when he found the end zone with his legs 15 times. This season, he already has 9 rushing scores.
After his three rushing touchdown performance this past Sunday, Josh Allen is up to 62 ground touchdowns for his career. It is the second most of any quarterback ever, and he’ll have a chance to catch Cam Newton’s total of 75 over the next season or two. Jalen Hurts currently has 8 fewer rushing scores, and no other active QB has more than 35.
Cam Newton Is The Only QB With A Higher Total
It isn’t just the quarterbacks that he is passing on the all-time list, though. Earlier this year, he was able to pass names like Tiki Barber and Jamal Lewis. But now he is passing by Hall of Famers. During the game against the Rams, he caught and passed the total touchdown marks of both Terrell Davis (60) and OJ Simpson, both of whom have already been inducted in Canton.
Should Allen add three more rushing touchdowns in 2024, he’ll pass even more NFL greats. Larry Csonka finished his career with 64 scores, and Thurman Thomas had 65. If he were to continue on his current pace, he would pass Newton’s mark of 75 within the next 22 or so games, and would eclipse Ricky Williams, Eddie George, Earl Campbell, and Clinton Portis in the process.
It is not at all out of the realm of possibility for Josh Allen to enter the top-20 on the NFL rushing touchdowns list at some point in his career.
