Los Angeles Rams safety Nick Scott is an athlete. The Penn State alum, selected in the seventh round of the 2019 draft, was a running back-turned safety in college, and at 5-foot-11 and 201 pounds, he can generally lay the wood when the need arises.
However, Scott discovered in the 2022 season opener against the Buffalo Bills that when you square up to tackle quarterback Josh Allen when he’s running… well, we hope you ate your Wheaties that morning.
The Bills had third-and-7 on their the Los Angeles 43-yard line with 10:34 left in the third quarter, and Allen didn’t like what he saw downfield, so he just ran for it. Scott decided to make the drive-killing tackle, he got in the way of the bull, and he got the horns.

As dangerous as Allen is as a passer, you also have to deal with him as a rusher, and that’s generally not fun. Last season, per Pro Football Focus, he gained 897 yards and scored six touchdowns on just 84 carries, averaging 3.59 yards after contact per carry, and forcing 43 missed tackles. That’s a decent season for a starting running back, never mind one of the best quarterbacks in the game today.
At 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds, Allen is a constant pain to bring down.
