Josh Allen has carried the Buffalo Bills all season as a legitimate MVP candidate. On Sunday, in a big game against the Dallas Cowboys, the Bills ironically did not need Allen to light it up.

In fact, in a 31-10 blowout victory, it seems they barely needed him!

With Buffalo leaning on bell cow tailback James Cook and a strong defensive team performance, Allen completed just 7-of-15 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. You’d look at this line from afar and think Allen was some run-of-the-mill backup who just didn’t turn the ball over, not one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks. This is odd, considering how much of a massive load Allen has had to shoulder for Buffalo all year.

Allen himself appeared to agree (and appreciate!) that he didn’t have to do everything for the Bills for once. When asked about his limited role in Buffalo’s three-score win, Allen said it was akin to that kid who did little on a class project but got an A grade just like everyone else.

A perfect and relatable description. No notes:

I, for one, didn’t think the Bills had it in them to pull more of their weight. I thought this current iteration of the team needed Allen to be a superhero (or, really, a Terminator) just to have a chance to win every week. I’d venture to guess that before Sunday, Allen also thought the same thing.

This had to be a welcome breath of fresh air for that kid just coasting in the back row of the “classroom.”
