Horror movie star Joseph Pilato has died aged 70.
The acclaimed Pulp Fiction actor, who is best known for playing Captain Rhodes in Day of the Dead, reportedly died in his sleep on Sunday night, though the cause of death is currently unknown.
The passing of the 70-year-old was confirmed by fellow actor Marty Schiff on Facebook.
Writing on the social media site, Schiff posted: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that actor and old friend Joseph 'Joe' Pilato passed away quietly in his sleep last night. Rest in Peace, Joe."

Joseph had appeared in a number of horror movies, including Alienator, Empire of the Dark, The Evil Inside Me, The Demolitionist, Fatal Passion, Wishmaster and The Ghouls but it is his turn in 1985 classic Day of the Dead, that he well be best known for.
He also played a Dean Martin lookalike in Quentin Tarantino's award winning classic Pulp Fiction.

Day of the Dead remains a popular horror movie and Joseph was a regular at conventions that celebrated the genre.
It could have been so different though, as Joseph studied law at university but the draw of acting was too great.

He has said previously: "I was more excited about portraying a person who was the lawyer. Unfortunately, to this day, I have not played a lawyer."
His final appearance is in Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D, in which he played Harry Cooper.
