Jose Mourinho 'trying' for Cristiano Ronaldo reunion and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Reports in Italy are linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a sensational reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma.

Ronaldo has been touted for a surprise move away from Manchester United in recent days, with reports suggesting he’s unhappy with the lack of transfers at Old Trafford so far this summer. Speculation has followed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner ever since he made his return to United nearly a year ago.

Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the 37-year-old, although the German club have rubbished suggestions they’re eyeing up a transfer. Roma though are the latest club to be touted as a possible destination.

Italian outlet Retesport (via SPORTbible) claim the Serie A side are ‘trying everything’ to land Ronaldo this summer. Former Roma defender Fabio Petruzzi is quoted as saying his former club are in pursuit of the Portugal ace.

The move would, of course, see Ronaldo reunite with former United boss Mourinho, having worked with him at Real Madrid. The pair were thought to have fallen out during their time at the Bernabeu, although they appear to have patched things up in recent years.

Elsewhere, United have reportedly made an offer for Leeds forward Raphinha, but have been pushed back in their efforts to sign the Brazilian. It’s claimed United have been told the 25-year-old is determined to sign for Barcelona instead.

Raphinha has been heavily touted for a move away from Elland Road this summer, with United, Barca and Arsenal all being linked with his services. The Brazilian scored 11 goals last season as Leeds managed to stave off relegation from the Premier League on the final day.

Arsenal are already reported to have had a bid turned down by Leeds, and now United are claimed to have suffered their own blow. Spanish publication Sport suggest Raphinha is hoping to prolong transfer discussions to give Barcelona time to make a bid.
