Jose Mourinho Slams Pep Guardiola Over Premier League Title Dig

Jose Mourinho has slammed Pep Guardiola after the Manchester City manager’s remarks over winning more Premier League titles than his former rival.

Jose Mourinho Slams Pep Guardiola Over Premier League Title Dig

The Manchester City boss has been showing signs of discomfort after his team went six matches without a win and this highlighted during a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

During the match the Anfield crowd began to chant ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ which led Guardiola to put six fingers in the air – referencing how many  Premier League titles the Spaniard has won.

Jose Mourinho deployed this tactic during his time as Manchester United manager, holding up three fingers to supporters after a defeat in December 2018.

The Portuguese coach was sacked soon after and in a recent press conference, Guardiola was asked if he is concerned about facing a possible departure like Mourinho.

Guardiola responded to this, saying: “I hope not in my case… he won three, I won six.. but we are the same like that.”

Mourinho, who is now in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce, was questioned over Guardiola’s comments in his latest press conference for his team’s match against Besiktas.

The former Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea manager responded in typical fashion and referred to City’s 115 charges over Financial Fair Play.

Mourinho said: “Guardiola said something about me… he won six trophies and I won three, but I won fairly and cleanly.

“If I lost, I want to congratulate my opponent because he was better than me. I don’t want to win by dealing with 150 court cases.”

This not the first time that Mourinho has commented on Manchester City’s financial lawsuit issues, claiming that he hopes he can get a fourth Premier League title if City are stripped of their accolades.

Mourinho finished second with Manchester United in the 2017/18 season and has consistently labelled this as his biggest achievement in football.

Four of Pep Guardiola’s six Premier League titles have come in the last four consecutive seasons, setting a new record, but his side could struggle this year after dropping a nine point lead to Liverpool – who are now favourites to win the league on UK betting sites.
