Jose Mourinho rant resurfaces after Manchester United suffer Champions League exit

An infamous Jose Mourinho rant has resurfaced after Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League.

With a place in the last-8 at stake, it was Atletico Madrid who progressed at Old Trafford on Tuesday night thanks to a winner from Renan Lodi. That came after Portuguese sensation Joao Felix and United teenager Anthony Elanga had traded blows during the first leg.

Four years on from suffering the same fate, a clip featuring then-United manager Mourinho ranting about 'football heritage' has been doing the rounds on social media, yet again. That was first published when United and Mourinho were eliminated from the marquee European competition by Sevilla.

Gone but not forgotten, that moment was trademark Mourinho. But can you remember what the Portuguese said during this born-again outburst?

He said: "Since 2011 - 2012 out in the group phase - the group was almost the same as we had this season.

"In 2013 - out at Old Trafford in the last-16 and I was in the other bench. In 2014 - out in the quarter-final. In 2015 - no European football. In 2016 - comes back to European football, out in the group phase, drops into the Europa League and in the second knock-out is out.

"In 2017 - play Europa League and win Europa League with me to go back into the Champions League. In 2018 - win the group phase with 15 points and lose at home in the last 16. So in seven years, with four different managers, once they haven't qualified, twice out in the group phase and the best was a quarter-final."

Mourinho added: "This is football heritage. And if you want to go to the Premier League, the last victory was 2013."
