Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho led the club to their joint-best finish of the last nine years, but wasn't able to deliver a Premier League title during his time in charge of the club.
The Portuguese manager made a number of big-money signings during his time in charge, including a club-record move for Paul Pogba. However, according to broadcasters Richard Keys and Andy Gray, the French midfielder proved the undoing of his old boss.
Mourinho's Roma side took on Pogba's Juventus last weekend, with the teams drawing 1-1. However, Pogba - who returned to Turin on a free transfer after the expiry of his United contract, missed out through injury. The French international signed a four-year deal with Juve after leaving Old Trafford for a second time, but suffered a knee injury in training during pre-season and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Pogba's injury issues limited his involvement at United as well. He did help Mourinho deliver the club their most recent major trophy, the 2016-17 Europa League, but averaged just 26 league games per season across his six-year second stint at Old Trafford.
The French international set United back a huge £89.3m in 2016, joining in Mourinho's first transfer window. However, according to a conversation Gray said he had with the coach in the beIN SPORTS studio, player power was as much of an issue as fitness.
"He came in and we were talking about the game and how it has changed, and he said... 'there was a time with Fergie and Wenger and me, when the manager was the most important person in the football club. Not any more," Gray said.
"We looked at each other and went 'oops, he's in trouble'," he continued. "And that's United."

Keys appeared to share his colleague's opinion, saying Mourinho was up against it "the moment he realised the player was going to be more powerful than he was". He made reference to an incident during the manager's time at Old Trafford when Pogba was permitted to stay in the United States for rehab on an injury, despite Mourinho's wishes to the contrary.
"What I think has changed for him is the moment that he heard Pogba was in LA undergoing rehab, something Ed Woodward had sanctioned and he had previously said no to," Keys said. "So he arrives at work on the Monday, where's Paul, he's not here.
"That was the beginning of the end. He knew then that he was not going to be backed by the hierarchy in the manner that he needed to be in order to control that dressing room."
