Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is being considered as a surprise replacement for Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain with the Argentinian reportedly set to be dismissed in the coming days.
It would mark a repeat of what happened in north London, with Pochettino also being replaced by Mourinho in November 2019. The Portuguese was dismissed 18 months later and was made Roma manager in May 2021, winning the inaugural Europa Conference League in his first campaign.
It has not gone unnoticed either. As per a report from The Telegraph, with PSG director Leonardo replaced by Luis Campos, the Ligue 1 champions are now considering a move for Mourinho with first-choice candidate Zinedine Zidane unlikely to take the role.

If Mourinho does land the lucrative role, it will no doubt see him linked with a number of his former players, despite having the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe to play with. One such player could be Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker impressed under the former Chelsea boss and PSG are never ones shy away from a lucrative purchase.
In 62 appearances under Mourinho, Kane scored 45 goals and provided 18 assists. But he has already sent his former marksman a message regarding his future. The England captain was pushing for an exit from Tottenham last summer and although he ultimately stayed, there are no guarantees in football. But Mourinho said he thought Kane's future lied in the Premier League, even if he does leave.
"I think he has to play where he is happy," Mourinho said in an interview with The Sun in the summer of 2021. "And I think he is happy in England. He is a very Premier League guy."
