Jose Mourinho refused to comment too much when asked whether he had any advice for Manchester United 's newly-appointed manager Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman was officially announced as United's new boss last week after signing a deal until the summer of 2025, with an option to extend an additional year. Ten Hag is facing a major task as a rebuild is expected at Old Trafford, with the main focus being on the overall structure and philosophy of the club.
Mourinho, who spent two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, is now in charge of Italian giants Roma as they prepare to face Leicester City in the Europa Conference League semi-final. Being back on English soil, the Portuguese was asked about whether he had any advice for the Dutchman who is taking up the United hot seat.
The 59-year-old refused to say too much, and was back at his prickly best as he responded. "You touched on the point," said Mourinho in his press-conference. "It's my former club. No, I don't have any advice, no."
Mourinho, who was the manager at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018, won three trophies during that time. But he was eventually relieved from his duties in December 2018 after winning only seven games out of the first 17 Premier League matches.
As his side faces Leicester on Thursday evening at the King Power Stadium, Mourinho paid a warm tribute to his former colleague Brendan Rodgers, whom he worked with at Chelsea. He said: "I can only really say that we worked together at Chelsea and we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

“We had a great relationship and we were friends. In football you go off in different directions. When we play against each other I want what’s best for my team but when we’re not against each other then I want the best for him.
“I think Brendan is a great coach. He has really come on. I want the best for him. He has a longer career ahead of him than me.
"He won titles in Scotland, which he ought to have done, but he did. He’s won the FA Cup and Community Shield. I respect him."
