Greek side Aris Thessaloniki are set to ask Rangers to accept a lower offer to land forgotten loan star Jose Cifuentes on a permanent deal.
The Ecuadorian midfielder is on loan there and his club initially agreed on a deal where they had the option to sign Cifuentes at any time for a reported fee of £3 million.
Cifuentes looked set to return to Ibrox early after a series of unimpressive displays and he was even fined for being late for training in December.
However, the arrival of manager Apostolos Mantzios has transformed him and he's been widely praised in Greece for his performances which have helped Aris up to fifth and in contention for a European spot.

Reports there have indicated Aris now want to turn the loan move into a permanent one and have entered into negotiation with Rangers about dropping the original agreed fee to a more manageable level for them.
He's made 23 league appearances for Aris and is a key player for them now.
Cifuentes was signed by Michael Beale and made just six league starts for Rangers after arriving from Los Angeles FC in a £1.2 million deal, which will still have two years to run if he were to return.
