Jose Baxter has discussed Lewis Dobbin's continued development as the youngster scored the winner for Everton's under-23s earlier this week.
The Blues secured a 1-0 victory at Southport's Pure Stadium on Monday evening thanks to the striker's brilliant header at the end of the first half.
The forward latched onto a pinpoint cross from Nathan Patterson on the right flank and looped his effort inside the far post.
The striker used his pace and intelligence to get in behind the visiting defence on a number of occasions in the second half, but couldn't bag a second goal to accentuate Everton's win any further.

After 70 minutes Dobbin was eventually replaced, but U23s coach Baxter was keen to highlight the development that the youngster continues to show - having trained with the first team regularly in recent months.
Baxter told the ECHO following the match: "I said to him in the dressing room that came off his shoulder, but he said 'Give me a bit of credit'!
"I'll keep on him, I'll keep banging on at him until he keeps scoring more and more goals. I keep telling him all the time to just think about goals, that's our job as strikers.
"Like you see there, it wins your team the game.
"It wasn't just his goal though, I thought he was outstanding. His all-round game, holding the ball up is getting much better, buying fouls, being a threat, the timing of his runs were really good.
"In the second half he was unplayable at times."
Dobbin has made multiple appearances for the senior side over the course of the campaign so far, most notably coming off the bench for an extended time during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea in December.
The striker is out-of-contract at the end of the current term, with Everton keen to tie the highly-rated player down to a new deal.
