Jorginho will have to wait to sort out his Chelsea future as Graham Potter forms an idea of how the Italian might fit into his team.
The new manager started Jorginho in his only match in charge so far, a 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg, and used the 30-year-old in a deeper role than Thomas Tuchel to help to cover for his defensive limitations whilst also unlocking those in front of him.
His contract, like N'Golo Kante's, expires next summer and interest in him will be high, especially with the prospect of getting the Champions League winner on a free transfer. He would be available for talks as early as January when he enters the final six months of his current deal.

With ageing midfield options and Denis Zakaria only at Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan - and yet to play - Potter has a limited period of time to make some major judgements on his set-up. With the winter World Cup also taking out six weeks of club football before January the importance of the next month is vital for Jorginho's future.
Although he won't be at the tournament, meaning there will be time for Potter to hold talks, Chelsea still have a tough decision to make. It had been reported by the Mirror that Barcelona had identified Jorginho as a potential replacement for their own tempo dictator, Sergio Busquets.
Busquets himself will be 35 next year and, along with Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen as well as Cesar Azpilicueta, there is already precedent for business between the two clubs. This however has been contradicted by a report from Goal.PL, who report that Jorginho's priority is to stay at Chelsea.
The factor in play here will be how quickly Chelsea and Potter come to a decision over their midfielder. Can he add to the current infrastructure at the club, will it be impacted by other contract talks with Kante, is Jorginho content to run his deal down with uncertainty, and what is his true priority? On top of this, Chelsea have a shortened time frame to do their business.
Jorginho has already been at the club for four seasons and is a valued senior figure, but tying him down to another contract will be yet another early decision for Potter and Boehly to make.
