Arsenal have agreed a £12million deal with Chelsea to sign midfielder Jorginho on January transfer deadline day, football.london understands. The Gunners will pay £10million up front for the Italian international with a further £2million in add-ons.
A £60million bid for Brighton star Moises Caicedo was rebuffed by the Seagulls, leaving the Gunners looking at contingency plans for the final few hours. This potentially explains Arsenal's decision to instead target Jorginho, which they have succeeded in doing.
With the midfielder set to join the Gunners, it means that Mikel Arteta's midfield is bolstered for the title charge in the second half of the season. And with a deal not yet being announced, leaks have already emerged about what number Jorginho will wear.

According to Kieran Cook, the Italian will take on the no.20 when he joins the club. Cook had also correctly revealed that Jakub Kiwior would be wearing the no.15 when he joined the club earlier in the transfer window.
Jorginho wore the no.5 during his three-year tenure at Chelsea where he won the Champions League in 2021. But, with Thomas Partey already occupying that number at Arsenal, Jorginho will hope to lift the Premier League at the end of the season with the Gunners wearing a different number.
