Jorgie Porter on 'stressful' start to her pregnancy after tragic miscarriage with quadruplets

Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter and her fiance Ollie Piotrowksi explained that they’re taking each day as it comes after the couple tragically lost quadruplets last year. The couple, who are expecting a baby boy, gave their first TV interview on Tuesday's Loose Women since announcing their pregnancy after their miscarriage heartbreak.

Speaking to hosts Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Janet Street Porter and Dame Kelly Holmes, the couple shared how they’re preparing to welcome a son in less than six weeks. Coleen asked how the pregnancy had been so far, and Jorgie explained: “In the beginning it was quite hard. It was a bit stressful, a bit worrying.

"But we kind of had to get over that bit and go 'do you know what? We need to enjoy this and start thinking about everything day by day. We’ve got to enjoy the journey.'”

Ollie added: “We both openly said it, it was super scary. It’s hard in general at the best of times but it was extra hard taking each day as it comes and just going with the flow.”

They said Ollie’s son Alfie, nine, was excited about having a baby brother and that Jorgie roped Ollie into strapping two watermelons to his stomach to give him an idea of how it feels to be pregnant. Ruth asked Ollie about men getting ‘forgotten’ in miscarriage and how important it is to talk about it.

He said: “I think it’s really hard - men and women - to talk about miscarriage in general and how it affects you day to day, just to be able to get on and move forward. I think the really hard part is knowing what’s right for your partner at the same time as well because you’re really struggling as well, and the emotions of it are all over the show."

“It should be a lot more open these days. It is really hard,” he explained. Turning to Jorgie he said: “But I think it’s about making sure you’re alright first and foremost.”

On Monday night (October 24) Jorgie, who plays Theresa McQueen in the Channel Four soap Hollyoaks, walked the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards looking angelic in a shimmering white dress as she cradled her growing bump.

Jorgie, 34, moved her castmates to tears with the news that she was pregnant. The star, who has played Theresa in Hollyoaks since 2008, shared an adorable Instagram video showing their hands and their pet Doberman's paws pulling away to reveal a baby scan.

"Hopeful beginnings …" Jorgie captioned the super-sweet video. The couple, who celebrated their engagement in February at Morley's Hall, Astley, found love in 2020.

Jorgie shared the exciting news that they were engaged in December, just a few weeks after she revealed she had suffered a devastating miscarriage with quads. In August she and Ollie were heartbroken to find out at the 14-week scan there was no sign of life in any of the embryo sacs.

Jorgie announced their engagement news on Instagram, sharing a selfie with her new fiance, the owner of Transpire Clothing, and showing off her glistening engagement ring, captioning it: "OMG." Oliver popped the question after she was sent on a treasure hunt of 12 photo clues documenting their love story, each captioned with a handwritten memory and a final clue that led her to a lakeside chalet.

Despite a Haribo ring stuck to one of the pictures, Jorgie insisted that it leading to a proposal never entered her head. She said the proposal was the "silver lining" of 2021.
