Jorge Mendes still 'upset' with transfer deal that took Ruben Dias to Manchester City

Jorge Mendes remains frustrated that he has not received what he perceives as sufficient commission from the deal that took Ruben Dias to Manchester City, according to reports.

The centre-half left Benfica over 18 months ago and moved to the Etihad.

Several clubs had been eyeing the Portuguese star, but City won the race for his services as they looked to sure up their defence.

Mendes is Dias' agent and helped broker the deal with the English champions.

However A Bola understand that he wanted commission on €71m - but instead only received it from €50m.

The super agent was due a 10 per cent share, so believes he is over €2m short.

Reports claim that €50m is the real value of the sale whilst the other figure is the announced value.

Mendes has several players on his client list who currently star at City under Pep Guardiola

Dias' compatriots Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo as well as Ederson are all key figures for the Premier League leaders, who are aiming for a fourth title in five years.

Dias was crucial in City's triumph last term, winning the FWA Player of the Year award for his efforts.

Guardiola's side went through a period whereby they conceded just twice in 11 games.

Dias, now regarded by some as the best defender in England, has again been key alongside Aymeric Laporte.

City have shipped a league best 13 times in 22 outings in the league thus far.

Dias was this week named in the FIFPro World XI alongside club teammate Kevin De Bruyne. The defender opened up on his first season, citing two key unforgettable moments.

“There are definitely two moments I will not forget [from 2021]”, he claimed.

“Winning the Premier League - the day we lifted the trophy and the Champions League final- even though it didn’t end the way we wanted, I can’t forget the way we got there, to make that run was unforgettable”

Dias was left on the bench for the winner over Chelsea at the weekend with John Stones instead partnering Laporte at the back.

The pair kept a clean sheet and Guardiola remained coy on his reasons for leaving out the Portuguese star.

Dias is expected to return to the starting XI sooner rather than later.

Bernardo, himself a Mendes client, has been linked with a City exit but ultimately remained in the summer and has been arguably City's best performer with several years left on his contract.
