Jorge Masvidal opens door to fight with "jacked" Conor McGregor after UFC 272 defeat

Jorge Masvidal could face "jacked" Conor McGregor after concerns over the Irishman's size were dismissed.

The Irishman has exchanged trash talk with Masvidal over a potential clash throughout his career but a deal has never materialised.

He is currently recovering from a broken leg but has claimed he is walking around at 190lbs which has opened the possibility of a return at 170lbs.

Masvidal is currently campaigning at welterweight and was defeated by Colby Covington at the weekend by decision in a huge grudge match.

And the beaten man's agent heightened the possibility the pair could meet, tweeting: "I saw McGregor in Dublin. He’s not small. He looked like he walks around 195-200lbs jacked."

McGregor himself has suggested that a return at 170lbs is a possibility as he confirmed his plans to return to sparring in April.

Masvidal recently signed a new deal with the UFC to make him one of the five highest-paid fighters in the promotion.

Any fight with McGregor is likely to entice a huge audience due to the pair's pay-per-view draw.

YouTube boxer Jake Paul has told McGregor to try and target a clash with Masvidal next by claiming that he would be "unable" to finish Nate Diaz.

"We already know Conor can’t finish Diaz," the YouTube boxer said on social media. "[The] right fight to make is [sic] Masvidoll vs Macgregor.

"[It's a] 50/50 fight [which] ends in a KO. Both can throw and both have weak chins."

McGregor previously hit out at Masvidal after he withdrew from his proposed bout with Leon Edwards through injury.

This prompted an angry response from the welterweight branding the star a "midget" in a furious rant.

With a title shot now drifting further away form Masvidal, he also vowed to fight "leftovers" McGregor and a potential rematch with Diaz in the future.

Masvidal's agent Kawa also previously claimed that a fight was offered to McGregor previously but the Irishman turned it down.

“Every time he’s ever tweeted, or anybody’s ever tweeted that name at us or Jorge, I do the following: I call [UFC executive] Hunter [Campbell], I say, ‘Hey Hunter, what’s good? You saw Conor?’” Kawa said last year on The MMA Hour.

"[Hunter says], ‘Yeah, he doesn’t want that fight.’ OK, boom. Every single time. It never fails.

"I don’t know if that’s real, or not real, but I know that they said they’ve tried to make that fight a couple times – Conor will not take it.

"You’ve heard [UFC President] Dana [White], Jorge’s too big for him, and that’s the end of that story."

However a deal for the pair to fight currently seems unlikely with UFC president Dana White previously dismissing a potential clash.

Despite claiming it could be the "biggest fight in UFC history", White believes McGregor does not belong at 170lbs.

"Hell no," White claimed. "Masvidal is too big for Conor.

"There’s plenty of fights for [Masvidal] in his weight division without Conor. He’s too big for Conor. [McGregor] doesn’t belong at 170 [pounds]. He’s got the balls to fight at 170, but he doesn’t belong there."
