Jorge Masvidal explains how he would "damage" Jake Paul after Tommy Fury fight

Jorge Masvidal believes he would damage Jake Paul after watching him lose a split decision to Tommy Fury on Sunday night.

The UFC welterweight contender has a long-running feud with Paul after the pair initially teamed up to mock Ben Askren ahead of the YouTuber's fight with his old rival in 2021. And he is confident that his experience in over 50 professional fights would be enough to separate him from Paul's level in the ring.

Masvidal is a known striker in his MMA career, and has landed a number of highlight reel knockouts throughout the last few years including his stoppage of Askren. But Paul has proven his mettle against tough cage fighters in the past, stopping Askren and Tyron Woodley and dropping Anderson Silva in his latest win.

"I got over 50 fights in the game," Masvidal explained to the DAZN Boxing Show . "I've got numerous knockouts and the thing that comes most natural and easiest to me is boxing. First and foremost, my speed and my power I feel that God always gave to me since the first day as a kid.

"All the little boys around me and my coaches could see it, my hands were faster than everybody considerably. I feel that in the sport of boxing I would f***ing wreck him. I would do damage to him, I'm a conditioned athlete and I'm not going to get tired throwing blows."

Masvidal went on to explain the technical reasons why Paul would struggle against him, noting a number of basic errors that he made in the Fury fight. The UFC star is currently on a three-fight losing streak, which he will look to snap against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in Miami next month.

"I'm a pro of 50 fights and I'm not going to get tired throwing heat," Masvidal continued. "I'm coming in to take your head off. You're going to have to do some really basic moves in that ring to get away from me and in boxing, Jake hasn't hit that stride yet where he can be a good keen boxer.

"He'd need to keep me at the end of his jabs, check hook, get his way out of problems, not let me put him against the ropes. I'm not the best boxer but I know what I'm going to be good at I'm going to put him on the inside, in the corner and beat the f*** out of him for the first four-five rounds and then start going over the top. That's something he won't be able to avoid because he doesn't have the craftsmanship."
