Jordan Walsh scored his first NBA points on Sunday (Feb. 4) as the Boston Celtics dismantled an injury-ravaged Memphis Grizzlies. He played most of the fourth quarter, allowing the Celtics starters to gain some additional rest after building a sizeable lead throughout the game.
Shortly after checking in for Boston, Walsh was presented with an opportunity to do what millions of people worldwide have dreamed of: score his first-ever bucket in the NBA. It ended up being a two-handed dunk, drawing an ovation from the bench and sending the fans in attendance crazy.
Walsh detailed his thought process when speaking with the media following the game.
“Oshae (Brissett) was pushing it in transition,” Walsh said. “I’m taught to run to the corner. So I just sprinted out and nobody was in front of me. So Oshae kicked it ahead, I caught it and I saw a lane to the rim and I was like, ‘This is the time.’ And I just jumped as high as I could and just dunked the ball. After that moment, I was like, ‘I’m getting that game ball.'”
Walsh has spent the majority of the season with the Maine Celtics as he continues to work on his game and get himself NBA-ready.

He signed a four-year deal with the Celtics this past summer, so there’s no rush for him to try to crack the rotation on the main roster.
However, there’s no denying that he is already winning the hearts of the fan base due to his commitment to defense and willingness to make the right play rather than call his own number. Fans will now be hoping they see Walsh get his second NBA bucket in the coming weeks or months.
